Every next person who we meet in life is conscious about their weight. Weight loss is the biggest issue today. Rather it be in film industry or be it in common men every one wants’ to be the best.

The best way to lose weight is to have proper diet. But too much of dieting can cause immunity imbalance in the body structure. Personally known from people who diet every day since years-they often feel more tired; some have lost their charm while others feel weak.

So the most appropriate way to lose weight is to eat and gym it out. We should not just go on dieting. Exercises keep our body fit, together with nutritional food helps to be in proper shape, as well as loose the unwanted fat in our body.

Today there are so many gyms and parlors where weight loss facilities are available. Anywhere we go we get advertisements about it like- “reduce 2 inches in just four days”, “complete package of weight loss program in just…” Today there are homes with personalized gyms and parlors of their own. Exercises are always good for health. But why are these in trends just today? Have people come to know about it very late in their life? The answer can be for or against it. It can be for in the sense that earlier people used to work hard doing manual labor. But today most of the work is done sitting in chair and through machines. This leads to increase in weights. So people have no option but to join gym, for reducing weight, where they provide nutritional charts together with exercises according to the need of a person.

People’s outlook also matters today. Like in marriage world today, a person wants to marry someone who is good figure or got the good physique. They look differently to a person who’s well maintained.

So all these stuffs have made human mind conscious of losing weight and look different. But the exercises to lose weight should be done in right time and regularly. We will need approx 3500 calories to be burned in order to lose one pound.

Thus personally no need to say stop to potatoes and rice because it does not lead to weight gain. Eat and gym. It’s as simple as that. This helps in weight loss and keeping fit and raising a toast to a healthy life.

The best of way of calculating obesity is by measuring the body mass index of an individual and it has been noted that if an individual possesses a body mass index of over 30, he is regarded as overweight and those having a BMI beyond 40 are categorized as morbidly obese. it is to be noted that since the past, it has been regarded without a trace of doubt by the various scientists and medical experts and dieticians that the best way of losing weight or maintaining perfect body weight is by having a balanced diet without indulging on junk food and high calorie food items and also by following a strict and regular exercising regimen. Thus balanced diet and regular physical activity may be referred to as the magic combination which can assure effective weight loss and over the years it has been proved that these claims are not false and this is one of the reasons why this concept has managed to hold its own in this new age of fad diets and weight loss supplements and pills. However it is interesting to note that in recent times it has been claimed by a certain section of researchers that exercising is not a preferred option if one indulges in a low carb weight loss diet. A low carb diet, as the very name suggests, promotes lower consumption of carbohydrates like white bread, white sugar and white flour as a part of the diet and this is supplemented by the consumption of proteins, fibers and fats in liberal quantities. The low carb diets bring to the forefront that there are two kinds of carbohydrates, the good carbohydrates and the bad carbohydrates and while in a low carb diet, one should totally abstain from consuming these components.

There are various reasons which have actually supported the fact that while avoiding carbohydrate intake, exercising may not seem to be a wiser option. This is because the absence of carbs may affect the muscle contraction which is facilitated by the glucose stored as glycogen within the liver, its main source being carbohydrates. The carbohydrates are responsible for energizing the cells of the body and therefore when carb content is low in the food intake of an individual then exercising may result in further fatigue and the power of the muscles are greatly reduced. Upon further research conducted upon athletes it has been proved that exercising while following a low carb diet may cause more exhaustion and thus adversely affect athletic performance.

April 7th, 2008Comments Off

In the recent times, various medical journals have conducted researches and have found out that an alarming section of the young children especially in the western countries are victims of obesity. About 50% and more kids are affected by obesity and it is even more alarming to note that despite repeated awareness programs there has been little effect and no decrease has been noted in this ever rising obesity graph. In case of children, this is an even more shocking proposition as with the passage of time as they grow older, they will find it even more difficult to lose these extra pounds accumulated in their growing years. A lot of responsibility for this increasing rate of obesity among the young children can be attributed to adults only. This is because it is these adults who have introduced them to the lure of fats and junk foods and while occasional consumption of these food items is not so harmful, regular intake may contribute to obesity immensely. Low carb diets have been considered to be one of the most effective and healthy ways of losing weight and it involves intake of liberal proportions of proteins and fats. It is important to note that one should avoid food items which are low in fat content but contain sufficient amount of calories. The ideal low carb snack should contain certain amounts of fibers, proteins and fats cutting down on the various bad carbohydrates like white sugar, white flour and white breads. Eggs may be consumed but they should be supplemented with sufficient amounts of vegetables as well.

The sudden upsurge with respect to losing weight has led to the introduction of various packaged food items which are known to facilitate weight loss. There are many low carb snacks sold in the market in packaged forms but one should be careful before investing on them as they are not always quite healthy and high in nutrition content. It is to be remembered that the weight loss process must also be a nutritious process and it definitely does not stand synonymous with crash dieting. Starchy food items like breads and potatoes should be avoided while on a low carb diet and therefore these are excluded from low carb snacks. However certain varieties of low carb breads are available which may be confused occasionally. If one strictly resorts to a low carb diet throughout the week, one may indulge in a bit of junk food once in a while.

BMI and weight loss

Weight loss programs have gained immense popularity in the recent times with a growing proportion of the population turning obese. It is true that if a person is very overweight, it is often possible to refer to his obesity simply by looking at the individual’s external appearance as under such circumstances he is more likely to be bulky and fat. However, there are many who may be on the verge of being overweight but in these cases it is impossible to determine by simply noticing their external features. But it is absolutely true that it is always better to get rid of the ailment before it assumes grave proportions and therefore it would be easier for the individual to deal with his obesity if he is aware of its premonitions at an earlier stage so that it does not require him to undergo any form of rigorous practice and too much hardship. This is possible at present with the help of ascertaining the body mass index and on the basis of the body mass index or BMI as it is popularly known as, it is possible to determine whether one’s weight is normal or whether one is running the risk of being recognized as overweight or obese. In the field of the medical sciences, the term body mass index is used to define a measurement index in order to calculate the amount of fat in the human body. It was a Belgian anthropometrist and statistician named Adolphe Quetelet who for the first time conceptualized the concept of the body mass index between 1830 and 1850 and since then it has been considered as one of the foremost guidelines for dictating the proportionate weight of an individual’s body.

The body mass index or the BMI is reached at by dividing the weight of an individual with the square of his height. Since the body mass index is more often the most important determinant in the ascertaining of proper body weight a lot of responsibility and importance rests on it and there are certain calculations that have been arrived at upon extensive study which dictate these terms. A BMI below 18.5 is regarded as underweight while that measuring between 18.5 to 24.9 determines normal weight. With a BMI ranging from 25 to 29.9 a person may be noted as overweight. A BMI beyond 30 makes one fall in the obese category while beyond 40 one is referred to as morbidly obese.

Fitness Mantra Hidden In Daily Routine

February 19th, 2008Comments Off

The term “Weight Loss” is worshipped by all the people across the world. Many people simply love to hear about weight loss but when it comes to giving it a practical shape this becomes a dreaded affair. Avoided too! People fear the rigorous exercises under the strict supervision of a trainer! These people have an idea that it is by spending long hours in a gym that one can really afford to lose weight. Again, some people adopt shortcut methods of losing weight. They go for weight loss pills like the Hoodia Slim. These pills are used to suppress hunger by fooling human brains. This in turn, leads to lesser intake of food.

Some people are really crazy to even opt for a lap band surgery. This surgery involves tying up of a person’s stomach with a silicone belt so that the stomach’s capacity for food intake gets decreased. But this method has risks like infection and bleeding. Technical difficulties might also arise. For example, when there is constant loss of weight, the stomach would move up the band and heartburn and vomiting would be the results.

After going through the above two paragraphs the readers might be thinking to drop their weight loss plans. But there are also natural yet systematic ways by which one can lose weight. One must be very particular about the choice of food. The labels with the caloric contents should be considered while purchasing a particular product. If anyone is thinking that he/ she is making a way to weight loss by skipping meals then he/ she is absolutely wrong. There is a tendency that one would eat more after a starvation period is over. This again leads to an opposite effect of skipping meals. The meals again should contain items like whole grains, fruits and vegetables which have high nutritive value and low fat content. At least eight full glasses of water should be consumed every day. And yes! One should try to control the portions of each item in a meal as one has to remember that it is through portion control that the entire meal quantity would get under control. A brisk walk of 30 minutes per day would act as a supplement.

People striving hard to reduce weight should set realistic goals and they should measure the stages of goal achievement from time to time. They have to do it as it is all about looking good! And looking good with those curves or with those six packs!
